David Hetherington

David Hetherington, Chief Executive Officer

David has substantial experience in research, policy, government, business start-up and development. Prior to joining IIA David was the Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation for more than six years. He was previously Executive Director of Per Capita, the progressive think tank dedicated to fighting inequality, and has worked at the UK’s Institute for Public Policy Research and with LEK Consulting. David holds a Master of Public Administration (Public and Economic Policy) and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and History).

Bruce Campbell, Chief Operating Officer

Bruce has an extensive career in extractives and operations management.  His former roles include CEO of the Alternative Technology Association (ATA); Executive Manager Business Services, Australian Volunteers International (AVI); and General Manager Corporate Services, Good Shepherd Australia and New Zealand and 18 years with Shell.  Bruce has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Patrice Virlombier

Patrice Virlombier, Communications Adviser

Patrice has more than 20 years’ experience working in consultancy and in-house communications roles and has developed and implemented communications programs for blue-chip companies, niche brands and non-profit organisations. Most recently, Patrice has worked in the fields of corporate and internal communications and media relations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) from the University of Southern Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Communications (Public Relations) from QUT.

Rukmini Babu, Social Enterprise Development Officer

Rukmini has experience working in the start-up community with social enterprises and not-for-profits. She shares an extensive passion for creating sustainable pathways to deliver transformative social impact outcomes, and aspires to empower local leaders in grassroots communities to break through the cycle of disadvantage.

Rukmini brings experience in impact measurement and evaluation and community capacity building, and holds a Master’s qualification in International Development. Alongside this role, Rukmini also leads the impact team at Humanism Global, a social enterprise focusing on the economic empowerment of communities in poverty.

Shayal Raj, Project Officer

Shayal has over six years of combined research and direct practice experience working in the public and private sectors as a policy economist. Before joining Impact Investing Australia, she worked in the Fijian Government, undertaking market research and policy development. Shayal holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce with a major in Economics from the University of the South Pacific.
